Why Hire a Medical Record Review Service?
If you are an attorney, there are many reasons that you may consider hiring a Medical Record Review service for your firm. You require a concise, thorough review of the facts, filtered through the lens of a health care professional with years of experience and a knowledge of the law and legal process to help you develop interrogatories, decide who to depose, which experts to use, prepare for motion hearings and trials, and gain insight into the health care system that only years in such a system can bring.
Here a but a few common practice areas that we work in:
- Personal Injury Law – As a personal injury attorney you are laser focused on finding out the extent of the injury, potential complications of the injury, a timeline of the treatment provided for the injury, pre-existing conditions that may have been exacerbated by the current injury, relevant information about the providers involved, etc.
- Insurance Defense – past medical history, prior medication use, current medical history; all of these aspects of a client’s case are crucial to developing a possible defense. We provide a deep dive into the client’s health care history to help you develop the best possible argument to support your client.
- Mass Tort – mass tort cases frequently involve massive amounts of patient information that must be carefully vetted for issues supportive of the case. We assist you in developing your theory of the case by providing useful, easily understood reports designed for attorneys.
- Medical Malpractice – Understanding that you are working on a contingency basis, you need to know quickly what the arguments are that the standard of care has been breached in your case to assist you in valuing the case. Years of experience guide us in helping you arrive quickly at that point.
What Services Does Your Company Offer?
The medical record summary is narrative report which helps the attorney understand the client. First, an executive summary is developed which assists the attorney in wrapping their mind around the client. The executive summary if very helpful in leading the attorney to a quick understanding of all of the components which, working together, explain the client’s current medical state.
The executive summary is followed by the medical record summary itself, which breaks down the details of the client’s injury or condition into easy-to-understand components filled with enough detail to inform the reader but not so much detail as to cause confusion or create new rabbit-hole’s of research for the busy attorney.
In contrast to the medical record summary, this format allows the attorney to have a chronological breakdown of events. The relevance of any given set of medical facts are explained to the attorney throughout the chronology. Some attorneys prefer this type of presentation when explaining the timeline to a jury is critical to an understanding of negligence or other legal concepts.
Medical Literature Search/Review
Sometimes it is necessary to take the “learned treatise” route in a case. When this is the direction that you will take, it is even more helpful to understand the treatise that you are presenting to a jury. Often, attorneys will use the expert they are hiring to present and develop such information, however, this is not always the case. Our medical literature review is a comprehensive exploration of relevant diagnoses and conditions that are helpful to your case.
